We all know chili and chocolate is a bomb combination, now what if we turned this into a bowl of oats?? And hear me out, what if we used chili oil to top it off? It may sound weird but when paired with the sweet oats and maple syrup it becomes a perfect balance of sweet, spicy and savoury! This is the perfect warming breakfast bowl for the colder months, let me know what you think if you try it!
Ingredients:
40g quick oats
250g plant milk
15g vegan chocolate protein powder (optional)
6g cocoa powder 40g ripe banana
1/4 tsp chili flakes (this will vary depending on how spicy you want it and the kind of chili flakes you use)
Toppings:
Chili oil (I used the Lee Kum Kee one as it is my favourite) Banana
Chopped chocolate
Maple Syrup
Method:
Mash your banana and add to a pot along with the rest of your ingredients. Bring to a simmer and let cook for a few minutes until it reaches your desired texture and the oats are soft. Feel free to add a splash of water to thin it out if you find it gets too thick for your liking. Transfer the porridge to a bowl and add sliced banana, chopped chocolate, maple syrup and chili oil! You can of course skip the chili oil if you wish, but I'd recommend at least trying it out on a spoonful of oats or so just to see if you like it!
