I love the combination of chocolate and cherries, and that's why black forest flavoured dishes are some of my favourites to make! These oats are the perfect dessert-y breakfast to make ahead of time, and tastes so sweet and delicious while still being a nutritious and filling meal. I hope you love them as much as I do!
Ingredients 40g quick oats
200g plant milk
10g chia seeds
15g chocolate protein powder
10g cocoa powder
6g maple syrup*
*You might want to add more or less syrup depending on the sweetness of your milk and protein powder of choice
Cherry topping:
100g frozen cherries
½ tbsp corn starch
1tbsp sugar Other toppings: Vegan whipped cream
Chopped dairy free chocolate
Method:
Mix all of the ingredients for the oats (not the topping) in a bowl and set in the fridge overnight. The next morning, make the topping. Toss 100g frozen cherries in cornstarch and sugar. Add to a pot with a splash of water. Bring it to a simmer and keep simmering on low to medium heat for 5-10 minutes. Whip your whipping cream if it isn't of the ready-whipped kind, and chop your chocolate. To a jar or glass, layer in the overnight oats and cherry mixture. Add some whipped cream and chocolate on top and enjoy!
